IoT Design Thinking

Project | 10

Synopsis

As part of Global IoT initiatives Orange sell connected devices to internal customers across Europe who then sell IoT solutions externally on a B2B basis. Often the global sales team struggle to sell devices to countries because the country has a lack of understanding of the business client and its needs.

To help countries understand more about their customer needs, I worked with a team of ux practitioners to run a design thinking workshop with country representatives in Paris. During the workshop the team and I interviewed country representatives in order to gain insights into opportunity areas and help to understand challenges in context of their country needs and infrastructure.

The second part of the workshop was an interactive session where representatives voted for areas of IoT interest on a cityscape map.

After the workshop the team and I synthesised the data into a working draft document and conducted research into the identified domain areas, we then work-shopped ideas and I wrote and illustrated the use cases highlighting the possible opportunities.

Working collaboratively it was ensured that the views of the business and marketing teams were included into the brochure to communicate a single vision and strategy.

The brochure was later presented and given to countries in order to promote the value of Design Thinking methods and to encourage further design engagement.
