Profile,
I am a successful hands-on UX designer and consultant with a breadth of experience working within project teams and as a design lead. My role is often to deliver at all stages of the UX lifecycle, from interpreting business and user needs, ideation of concepts, user testing and developer hand-offs whilst supporting sprint cycles and sign offs.
Aside from supporting the UX lifecycles, I am comfortable with taking a client facing approach to understand the business strategies and also facilitate client and user ideation workshops where necessary in order to build out relevant product requirements to define and ideate.
By implementing UCD processes and design thinking I have had the opportunity to create compelling solutions for a number of leading brands including LSEG, BT, Samsung, Vodafone, HSBC, NatWest (& RBS brands), Refinitiv (LSEG), Orange, Keytree/Deloitte, Bang & Olufsen.
Future objectives are to continue to utilise design methods and strategy to offer delightful & engaging experiences. New work and projects will exploit existing skills and knowledge base whilst adding new knowledge that contributes to the delivery of effective & creative UX solutions.

Principle UX Designer
At LSEG I am currently designing an end to end service for quant analysts and model builders to create, test, validate and deploy financial models for LSEG and their customers. As a collaboration with Microsoft, the service utilises a combination of LSEGs own platform and Microsoft development application Azure. Ultimately the service will be rolled out externally allowing third party banks to use the platform by plugging in their own data API’s or SDK’s and then leveraging LSEG data to rapidly build and store financial models whilst managing risk with approved validation sign offs (MRM Model Risk Management).
For this initiative I have been responsible for designing the end to end work flow that will progress through the steps needed to evolve financial models from conception through to validation and deployment. In order to kick the design process off I consulted with Quant analysts, developers, model validators, MRM (Model Risk Management) and model approvers (personas) to understand and map their workflows and where hand offs and gated processes took place. Once I had mapped the flows, I could better understand job functions and also see where there were pain points and where delays occurred and opportunities to optimise the flows.
After existing work flows were mapped they were then included in the new service map where I highlighted opportunity to use automation and AI to better optimise the model development work flow. The service design allowed for the whole model lifecycle to be tracked and maintained in one place for a more holistic and controlled delivery.
Areas that were covered included: company/client onboarding, data collection, model build, testing, validation, model inventory.
Right now, the service map has been agreed by key stakeholders and low fidelity wireframes have been signed off. I am now currently working on the screen designs in Figma using Microsoft Fluent 2 and key user flows are now being worked on by the development team working in 2 week sprints.

HSBC
Aug 2021 - Mar 2023
Lead UX/Product Designer
At HSBC I led the UX design delivery for an internal application concerned with Tracking, Monitoring, reporting and escalation of employee activity and behaviour within their daily workflow. The application is required to monitor and log activity such as financial trade transactions, email and chat exchanges as well as employee training requirements.
The application had already gone through several rounds of design and customer / user validation before I arrived, so my first task was to establish familiarity with the product and also understand the product owners vision for the next round of iterations and product release. With a business analyst, I captured high level requirements and broke them down into user requirements and assigned them to the appropriate persona and job role. By doing this I was able to create high level flows (not wireframes) identifying processes and gated hand off and sign off between personas.
The high level flows were then validated by stakeholders and after a few iterations were signed off by the product owner. From these high level flows I then created wireframes flows to detail the UI and to help communicate the vision, I created demos for the product owner to share the vision with the business who then provided feedback for the design loop. After iteration, designs were signed off by the product owner and were reviewed by the development team. I added designs to the relevant Jira tickets which were then worked on in sprints. After each sprint I reviewed the development and signed off, escalating issues when necessary.
As the application was internal, the new features and functions were rolled out to 100 users, feedback was captured by the product owner who prioritised the feedback for iteration. All my designs were tested against W3C standards for accessibility and I ensured consistency and compliance to HSBC brand and visual guidelines.
During my time at HSBC, I also provided design specification to the development team to build out a component library for internal applications. This was a vital piece of work so future projects and iterations could easily be built with off the shelf components. All my work was done in Sketch and added to Jira tickets with UX full descriptio for the dev team. Day to day I was involved in stand ups, sprint planning and story grooming and front end build sign off.

Natwest
Jan 2021 - Aug 2021
Lead UX/Product Designer
At NatWest I joined a new Digital Product team to provide UX/UI processes and design consistency across 3 products - credit cards, loans and overdrafts which were across 3 brands - NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland and Ulster Bank. Working within this scope, I used Sketch and InVision to create concepts and user journeys for stakeholder review and user testing. Designs were iterated based on the user feedback and once designs were agreed, I used Abstract to share the Sketch files with developers. All designs and concepts were shared with copywriters to edit and ensure compliancy and tone of voice was used correctly within the designs, and therefore could be signed off by legal and conduct. Abstract files were routinely shared with developers in India to ensure technical feasibility, then I added links and UX/UI descriptions to Jira tickets for the development team. After each sprint, the development team shared links with me and the team to review and approve.
Whilst I was supporting the day to day roadmap, I initiated a UX mapping exercise I created a swim-lane user journey map to provide a macro view of the current state for each product and journey. By doing this I could highlight areas of inconsistency, repetition and any pain-points within the journey’s. The stakeholders found the maps useful and helped them make informed decisions to optimise content and journeys whilst identifying where customer data was best collected. The iterations to the customer journeys contributed to improved conversion rate, and reduction in bounce rate according to the data.
Other tasks include working with HCD to give them visibility of what design work is going on and to gain insights into their activities such as rebranding initiatives and reporting back to my wider team to assess any impact it has to our delivery. Where possible and when budget permits, I worked with the internal test teams to get feedback.

Refinitiv
Refinitiv was acquired by LSEG in 2020
Oct 2018 - Nov 2020
Between Sep 2019 – Jan 2020 I was 2 days Keytree, 3 days Refinitiv.
Lead UX/Product Designer
At Refinitiv I led the UX design process to re-platform their API Developer Portal from Thomson Reuters to Refinitiv. Working with the Developer Portal stakeholders, I initially gained strategic insights and captured the enhanced vision they wanted to bring to the portal. In parallel to this, I also engaged with the API product teams to understand their onboarding journeys and customer maintenance processes which existed outside of the Developer Portal ecosystem.
My UX research helped the stakeholders to see that the API products were managed in silo and also separate from the Developer Portal and that integration was needed. The output of the UX research was a mapping of the ecosystem for each product covering online and offline engagement between stakeholders and potential customers. It highlighted what worked well, what didn’t, exposed the gaps in the journey and highlighted pain-points and blockers.
In parallel to my research, I created screen designs for the new Refinitiv portal in Sketch and presented them to the product owner and relevant business stakeholders for discussion and re-iteration. Once concepts were agreed by the business, I used InVision to build interactive prototypes, I worked in conjunction with the test team to test concepts with the audience; Business CTO, Entrepreneurs, Traders, Financial Researchers. The findings were discussed with stakeholders and designs were iterated based on results.
Approved screen deigns were shared with the development team using Zeplin (Tata Consultancy Services) for build and testing and I also worked with other designers where necessary to contribute to the design system with patterns and components.
Other UX project assignments at Refinitiv include: creating an API capabilities sales demo, Web scraping tool application, API discovery tool for developers.

Keytree
Keytree was acquired by Deloitte in 2021
Sept 2019 - Jan 2020
Between Sep 2019 – Jan 2020 I was 2 days Keytree, 3 days Refinitiv.
Lead UX/Product Designer
At Keytree my role was to lead the engagement with Keytree's client Tarmac and formulate a plan
Keytree’s client Tarmac needed to enhance and modernise their ordering and dispatch system onto the SAP platform. I joined Keytree to lead the UX engagement with Tarmac to define the vision and ultimately create a POC prototype for their order and dispatch system. Initially, to gain familiarity with the stakeholders and their business requirements I coordinated sessions at their HQ to listen and ask questions about workflows and processes of the depot. I captured workflow journeys in whiteboard sessions and after gaining sufficient insight I started to build low fidelity key screens for the stakeholders to review and feedback.
Whilst this was an important design step for the business, there needed to be a connection with the end users. To do this I facilitated a workshop with depot staff to capture insights and potential user requirements and to gain an understanding about their roles, responsibilities and workflow challenges including blockers and pain points. I also asked them to contribute to a wish list of items that they thought could optimise their workflow and make tasks easier.
With the insights collected, I translated them into user requirements and grouped them under epics. The findings were presented to the stakeholders and were given a priority rating to build into the prototype. The prototype was continuously shared with Tarmac via the Axure online tool. While working with Tarmac, I was also liaising with Keytree’s SAP expert for technical feasibility of the concepts.

Lead UX/Product Designer
As a Lead Design Manager at Orange, I was responsible for ensuring UCD, UX and Design Thinking methodologies were applied when delivering products and solutions to internal Orange partners in Europe. As part of the process, I quantified work effort and planned design activities for project roadmaps and ensured that I could acquire budget from the business to cover any costs of hiring designers. When hiring, I considered the level of expertise against the program of work to ensure a successful design delivery.
In addition, I also planned user testing sessions into the budget requirements. User testing sessions were facilitated with my inputs at the test centre in Paris. The feedback from the testing was used to validate or reject concepts and reiterate.
On average, I was overseeing 2-3 projects with small teams, whilst I remained hands on with other projects delivering a number of products and initiatives for the business.

Lead UX/Product Designer
During my time at Orange Labs I was responsible for delivering UX design and Innovation across products and initiatives that aimed to push the boundary of technological capabilities of mobile devices combined with the power of the Orange Network and device/user data. I worked with in-house with technical teams to propose UX enhancements to existing services like Orange Wednesday and Orange Cash to sell into the business.
Whilst providing qualitative UX across devices, apps and services, I also created use cases and storyboards for a video production that was put together with the help of an After Effects expert. The Use Cases depicted high street experiences of the near future involving seamless integration of devices, network, user data, and technology built into the environment. The concepts were purely to provide an example of how Orange could power a fun marketing tool that could be branded by a third party to encourage brand engagement in a fun and novel way.
