Synopsis

Mobile Connect provides a secure universal log-in solution that allows customers to use a 4 digit authentication PIN to log in to multiple web accounts and services that would otherwise require separate usernames and passwords. The technology is designed to work for mobiles and browsers and uses the mobile network and the MSISDN of the device as a secure authentication.

The discovery phase for this project had been provided by Mobile Connect and the team presented the benefits of the proposition. Working with Mobile Connect, Orange stakeholders and development team, I provided user journey concepts to communicate how the service would work.

 

During the ideation phase it was necessary to create logic flows to identify what screens would be needed for the wireframes and where the network processing would occur between a web page and launching pin entry on the mobile.

 

Once the flows and wireframes were finalised I used the Orange design system to create the visual design elements using Figma. Designs were passed on to the development team for building the solution for testing.

 

The user testing was conducted with 20 users who were made up of 20-30 year olds and 50-60 year olds. The results revealed that there could be some delay connecting to the device and initiating the PIN entry screen. To keep the user aware that the service was establishing a connection messages were added to the screens and the tech team optimised the waiting time.

 

Other aspects of the service that were designed included the registration and configuration screens for the service. These were specified for Mobile, Tablet and Desktop.
